Over a short period of time Bernic Security Limited will design a dedicated security system to dovetail with the needs and requirements of the day to day running of your Company.Through total commitment to our clients, staff and assessors we continually audit ourselves and implement improvements.
Bernic would intend to use our vast experience to take responsibility of your security by foreseeing potential problems and taking the correct steps to preventing a breach in your security.
Whilst being accountable to yourselves we would take control of the security as your security specialists.We would recommend that we should be answerable to one person and a deputy for when that person is not available and that all assignments for the security would be channelled through those persons’ as in our experience to be answerable to more than one person causes counter demands leading to confusion and can often cause contradiction and conflicts in the security and therefore weakens the whole system.
Of course any changes that we feel to be necessary would be put forward to your representative with the reasons why the changes would improve your security and wait for their approval or refusal before any changes would be made . The directors of Bernic would take an active part in organising the security with regular visits to the site spending time with the security staff . This keeps up morale and ensures that they are working efficiently and with your interests in mind.
As the security are usually the first point of contact we would ensure to present a smart, polite and efficient image to your visitors at all times.We would make ourselves familiar with your site rules and preferences and take the necessary steps to abide by them, at the same time encourage all visitors and staff to abide by them also. Our overall intentions would be to take away the worry and the everyday problems of running a security department and at the same time earning your trust and giving you confidence in Bernic to do the work in a professional manner, this in turn will provide you with peace of mind.
Our Procedures
A manager travels from site to site 24hrs a day every day of the year visiting sites at random, visiting all our sites at least twice every 24 hrs.
- He deals with any problem that he finds and ensures all is in order.
- He will issue new uniform or equipment as he sees the need.
- For our officers safety we have an electronic log in desk that all work alone officers call once per hour. If this call is not received within a set period of time an alarm is raised and the control room staff will attempt to contact the site if the correct response is not received the mobile patrol will respond instantly.
Our Policies
On occasions when we take over contracts from other contractors, we are bound to take on the security staff that is employed at the premises that meet the criteria in line with TUPE regulations.
If this is the case these staff would form the basis of our team, they would be inducted and re trained to our standard and required to attend various training courses as part of our commitment to the evolution of our service, and to our staff through “Investors in People”. We will implement a site induction policy to train current Bernic staff to ensure adequate site cover during periods of training, holidays and in case of sickness. For each officer that is required to operate the security a second will be inducted and familiarised with the duties. Therefore if there are three staff required to complete the shifts there will be three spare officers capable of continuing the service in their absence.
Shift patterns will be strictly in accordance with the working time directive and staff agreement.
Our recruitment policy, in line with the equal opportunities ethos, recognise a need for a balance in gender and ethnicity. In the fullness of time we would aim to provide a cross section of such personnel.
All Bernic officers starting pay is at or above the minimum wage.
We operate an attendance bonus scheme which has reduced absenteeism to a minimum.We will be both high profile when required, and equally, low profile depending on the circumstances. Ideally we would require a single line of command to your organisation along with a deputy charged with overseeing security measures. We adopt this policy with other clients and it has proven to be the optimum working practise on several occasions. By removing confusing and conflicting instructions we have found the service provision evolves along a definite path.
Our day manager will visit the site each day during daytime shifts and similarly the night manager will visit night staff. The purpose of these random visits is to support our people with a fast efficient chain of command and to deal with day to day service changes quickly.
All staff have access to a manager or director of the company 24 hours per day 365 day per year. In addition to an agreed formal meeting programme with your representative a director will visit the premises regularly.It is our experience that through our policy of communication and support our staff are more able to enhance health and safety provision at their places of work, their vigilance constantly comes to the fore in identifying and dealing with potential hazards.
As part and parcel of this service we have a mobile rapid response unit capable of providing immediate back up to any of our clients sites, our average response time is thirteen minutes from receiving the call to our control room to being on site. Any problems that may arise during a shift will be reported in writing with details of action taken to remedy the problem to your representative on a daily basis and logged for future reference.
